App should connect directly to the hub when on same network to improve laggy user experience
There is network lag when using the app. It should be able to detect if it is on the same network as the hub and communicate with it directly. I've setup my own interface that connects over telnet to avoid having to use the app because of the lag.

Boston Property MergedWhen one's decice with heatmiser app on it is on the same network as the neo hub (eg at home where the heatmiser system is installed) if the heatmiser servers or service is down, or one's own internet is down, then one can't control the thermostats with one's phone even though network connectivity is physically present.
Please could the app and software be modified to use the local network to control the thermostats etc by default and not over the internet when possible. This should also impro -

Heatmiser R&D Admin"Control thermostats & hub via local network so functionality maintained if internet or heatmiser dow" (suggested by Boston Property on 2019-11-27), including upvotes (1) and comments (0), was merged into this suggestion.

RogerWI heartily agree (and have voted), as all the neo devices, router and phones/tablets are on the same WiFi network please make it possible. Assured continuity of control can then be achieved. I’ve just replaced four PRT-TS stats, and have been waiting all this time for something brilliant to replace them … add this connectivity to make it brilliant!

Andy Worsley+1 to this. Losing the temperature history if there's an internet outage is the most annoying part for me!

Neil B.Having access to the hub provided locally when within the network is also useful for installers - I have many occasions when I'm commissioning new build/major refurb projects where there is often a working network, but no internet connectivity as the client has yet to move in. Being able to use the app while commissioning & testing, rather than having to rely on the stats themselve, would be very helpful. I appreciate that not all functions may be possible as elements (temperature logging?) may be stored in the cloud, but even basic functionality in the absence of internet/cloud service would be a step forward.

David AAnother +1 for this one. In fact I just emailed support with exactly the same suggestion before I saw it is already on here.
Notice on Google Play app store that a very common criticism of the app is that it is laggy. This would surely solve the issue at least when on the same network which let's face it is the most common scenario for most users.
Please implement. Would make a good system great! -

Max+1 (and more) from me. The lag in the App having to communicate with the Heatmiser server I am sure could be totally removed if it just communicated direct with the NeoHub when App and Hub connected to the same local network as must be the case surely for the vast majority of times people are using the NeoApp in the home?
App is now very good but one of the most complained about things on the Google Play store is the laggy behaviour. Sort this issue as per suggestion and will make a great app brilliant. -

David Jones+1 for me also.
It would equally allow me to "hide" the installation behind a firewall should I choose, and just connect in through a VPN. -

Heatmiser R&D AdminWe can confirm we have now added local mode to the neoHub (Gen 2) running firmware 2061.
This will be available in iOS 3.0.45 within the next week or two and Android 5.2 in early June.
Local mode will be enabled automatically for new installations, but for existing systems you will receive a prompt to setup local mode when you are on the same network as your neoHub.
An active internet connection is still required, and your app will still authenticate with the Heatmiser server, however all commands will be sent locally via your local network, resulting in a much faster user experience.
